I am so excited, nervous, and anxious all at the same time! On Friday, the 16th of December, it will be my husband and I first flight with my 6 month old son. Very often, my husband and I go to California in December. Visiting Cali in December means to us a really great weather, not too hot or too cold, just perfect for us. Plus I feel like the holidays there is so much joyful than where I live. This year we will be having our little munchkin with us. We haven’t been to long roads or flights with him, other then going to Poconos, Pennsylvania which was only an hour and a half. So I’m a bit anxious and excited to see how he’ll react. My flight is from Newark, NJ to Fresno, CA approximately 6 hours. There will be two stops. I prefer two stops as I can walk around and change my son. It’s painful sitting long hours in a plane.
With a baby on board, I know for sure it would be tiresome. That’s why I have packed the essentials I know I would need with me.
six diapers(its always better to have more just incase of any delays or upset stomach)
travel baby wipes
plastic bags for dirty diapers or clothes.
pre-packed baby food (the common ones like apples, sweet potatoes and bananas)
2 comfy onesies
toys to keep him distracted and quiet
This may sound a lot of things but it is actually lightweight in my diaper bag. I find that rolling any clothing helps save a lot of space in my diaper bag. Keeping things organized, especially with an infant helps to keep me less stressful. This way I am able to see everything and know where everything is.
I also love carrying with me travel size baby lotion, shampoo, powder for my son in a zip lock bag. Since I will be away for 10 days; I will also take with me a thermometer and a nose syringe. My son can get stuffy sometimes. This syringe helps clear any mucous. Since there will be a weather change from New Jersey to California, I’m taking the thermometer just in case he becomes ill; I hope not.
These are my son’s essentials I will take with me when traveling to a long distance place. I hope this gave you an outlook of how I pack for my baby.
Any mothers traveled with an infant? I would love to know about your experience! Any advice is much appreciated. 🙂
